1st Night Spokane 10th Anniversary

This is the 10th Anniversary of First Night Spokane. For those of you in the Spokane area this is one of the biggest events of the year, as you may already know.

A night packed with arts and entertainment galore. More entertainment can be seen on this night in downtown Spokane than on any other night. It would take you a week or more to see all that you can in one night at First Night Spokane New Year’s Eve Winter Festival. See ice carving, Irish dancing, listen to African drumming and rock and roll. Watch the Snowboard Rail Jam stunts and warm up by the bonfire or dancing at the dance party. Be part of the Resolution Run, where you write out your resolution and burn it at the end of your run in a ceremonial bonfire.

There is so much to entertain you or participate in there is noway for this not to be a Fabulous Night that ends with a spectacular Fireworks show.

Check out the First Night Spokane website for all the details.

New Years Resolution

Many believe the celebration of the new year was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. Making it one of the oldest holidays celebrated. Celebrating on January 1st is a relatively new tradition… a variety of dates are tied to seasons or various other ancient cultures. In fact the month of January did not even exist until around 700 B.C. (source: A History of the New Year) And not all countries celebrate New Years at the same time… because people in different parts of the world use different calendars.

Here at North Coast Life we put a twist on our Christmas Gift Exchange. It starts out normal by drawing someones name out of the bucket… but the rule we is, all gifts are to be Toys, in which we donate to “Toys for Tots”. We do have lots of fun with this… since we still wrap the presents and it is given to the person who’s name you received from the drawing.. and that person unwraps the gift. Some times we try to find a gift that would match the persons personality in kid form. This year I received a Hot pink laptop = I’m the social media girl who likes hot pink. Retirement Options

If so… you have four options when leaving an employer where you have contributed to their 401k plan.

  1. Keep it in your current plan

  2. Transfer current 401k plan to new 401k plan with new employer

  3. Cash out your 401k

  4. Rollover – Move it to another qualified retirement account.
